UK visitor visa documents: the checklist from Morocco
For a Standard Visitor visa from Morocco, prepare a passport valid for your whole stay, proof of funds, evidence of your job or business, accommodation and travel details, an invitation letter if someone is hosting you, and certified English translations of any documents written in French or Arabic.

What your documents need to show
The UK Standard Visitor visa covers tourism, family visits and some business trips, among other purposes. You apply online on GOV.UK. The documents are not a formality. They are how the UK decision-maker checks that your stay is temporary, that the purpose is genuine, that you can pay for it, and that you will leave at the end.
GOV.UK publishes an official guide to supporting documents for visitors, and it says plainly that submitting them does not, on its own, mean a visa will be granted. A good file is not a thick one. It is one where every document backs up what you stated on the form. Fees and processing times change, so check the current amounts and times on GOV.UK.
Passport and personal details
Your passport must be valid for your whole stay in the UK. Keep your old passports too: they show your previous travel, which GOV.UK lists among the useful documents.
The online form asks for your travel dates, past addresses, details about your parents, your income and the expected cost of the trip, and any criminal, civil or immigration offences. Gather this information before you start so that your answers are accurate and match your documents.
The supporting documents checklist
These are the main categories of documents in the official GOV.UK guide. Not all of them apply to every applicant. Pick the ones that match your situation, and check the current list before you apply.
Think of the file as a whole. Your employment letter should state the same salary that appears on your bank statements, your approved leave should cover your travel dates, and your host's address should be identical in the invitation letter and on the form. A single document, however genuine, carries little weight if it does not fit with the others. Name each file clearly and keep a copy of everything you send.
- Proof of funds: recent bank statements showing where the money comes from, not a sudden unexplained deposit
- Employment: a letter on company letterhead with your role, salary and length of service, and approval of your leave
- Self-employment: commercial register extract, company documents, recent invoices
- Studies: an enrolment letter and approval of your absence from the institution
- Accommodation and plans: a hotel booking or your host's address, your planned dates and itinerary
- Invitation letter, if relevant: the purpose of the visit, how the host knows you, and proof of their legal status in the UK
- Third-party funding: if someone else is paying, evidence of their means and of your relationship with them
- Previous travel: copies of your old passports and visas
- For a child: birth certificate, signed parental consent if travelling without their parents, copies of the parents' passports
Translations and copies: the rules to follow
GOV.UK requires a certified translation of any document that is not in English or Welsh. In Morocco that covers most documents: employment letters, bank statements, civil status records and company papers written in French or Arabic.
According to the official guide, each translation must include the translator's confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original, the date, the translator's full name, signature and contact details. For scanned documents, GOV.UK recommends photographing or scanning originals rather than photocopies wherever possible. Sharp, complete images keep a page from being unreadable.
Where to apply and give biometrics in Morocco
After applying online on GOV.UK, you book an appointment at a visa application centre to prove your identity with your passport and give your biometric information (fingerprints and a photo). For Morocco, GOV.UK points to VFS Global, the provider that runs the UK visa application centres.
The cities, optional services and how to submit your documents (online upload or at the centre) are set out when you apply. Always follow the instructions from GOV.UK and the official provider, and be wary of websites selling appointments.
Why a visitor visa file comes across as weak
The decision belongs solely to the UK authorities, and every file is assessed on its own facts. A refusal is not always about a missing document; often the file as a whole does not add up. Read your file the way a stranger would. Can they tell within a few minutes who you are, why you are travelling, who is paying and why you will come back? Wherever an answer is missing, that is where to work.
Some weaknesses come up again and again in poorly prepared files:
- Funds with no explained source, such as a large deposit just before applying
- A trip cost out of line with your declared income
- A vague purpose, with no plan, dates or accommodation
- Ties to Morocco that are barely documented: job, family, studies or business
- Contradictions between the form, the bank statements and the invitation letter
- Untranslated documents, or translations missing the required details
- Documents whose contents you cannot explain

Frequently asked questions
Is the visa for England different?
No: England has no separate visa. The Standard Visitor application covers the whole United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Current conditions are set out on GOV.UK.
Which documents do I need for a UK visitor visa from Morocco?
You need a passport valid for your whole stay and documents proving your funds, your job or business, your accommodation and your plans, plus an invitation letter if someone is hosting you. Documents in French or Arabic must come with a certified English translation. The official list is on GOV.UK.
Where do I apply for a UK visa in Morocco?
You apply online on GOV.UK, then book an appointment at a visa application centre to give your biometrics. For Morocco, GOV.UK points to VFS Global, the provider that runs these centres. Follow the instructions you are given when you apply.
Do I need to translate my documents into English for a UK visa?
Yes. GOV.UK requires a certified translation of any document that is not in English or Welsh. Each translation must include the translator's confirmation that it is accurate, the date, and the translator's full name, signature and contact details. In Morocco this covers most employment letters, bank statements and civil records.
Is an invitation letter required for a UK visitor visa?
No, not for everyone. It helps if you are visiting someone or a company has invited you. It should state the purpose of the visit and how the host knows you, and come with proof of the host's legal status in the UK, plus evidence of their means if they are paying for your stay.
How much money do I need in my account for a UK visa?
GOV.UK does not set a single amount for a visitor visa. The decision-maker checks that your funds cover the stay you describe and that their source is legitimate and explained. A large, sudden deposit just before applying weakens a file. Check the current requirements on GOV.UK.
Does a Moroccan national need an ETA or a visa for the UK?
According to GOV.UK's 'Check if you need a UK visa' tool, a Moroccan national coming to the UK for tourism or to visit family or friends needs a visitor visa (Standard Visitor), not an electronic travel authorisation (ETA). Your situation may differ, so check it with that tool on GOV.UK before you take any step.
Does NorthBridge Talent submit the UK visa application?
No. NorthBridge Talent prepares the UK visitor visa file with partner Canadian and British immigration experts: documents, consistency, translations and preparation. NorthBridge Talent never files an application and never gives immigration advice; you submit it yourself. The decision belongs solely to the UK authorities.
