About the position
A structural steel fabrication and erection company in Alberta is hiring experienced welders. You will weld and assemble beams, columns and structural parts in the shop, and help with erection on site when needed. This is a full-time position, mainly in the shop. You will work on structural steel for construction projects, in a team of welders and fitters. Precision, safety and weld quality are checked at every step.
What you would do
- Read shop drawings and prepare parts
- Tack, fit and weld beams, columns, base plates and bracing
- Arc weld (stick, flux-core or MIG) in several positions
- Inspect your welds and repair defects
- Follow shop and site safety rules
Who we are looking for
- At least 3 years of welding experience, ideally in structural steel or metal fabrication
- Minimum education: some secondary school
- A welding diploma or certificate — strongly preferred
- Able to weld in several positions
- Able to read shop drawings
- A practical weld test is required
- Some English is an asset
- Clean criminal record
- French: NCLC 5 or higher
